  • @Crystal Bruce My most commonly used query displays daily gifts/tributes that need to be acknowledged. We have this query set up for each employee who processes gifts. Additionally, I use a query that I review monthly that shows all gifts processed in that month and allows any salutation or address errors to be cleaned up in one sweep, this ensures each employee cleans up their own record “messes” at the end of each month. Overall, I am liking the new features that WV query allows (search, copy and favoriting).

  • @Crystal Bruce I created a constituent query for Global Change. One of the best features of the Query is the operator, One of, where you can add Import IDs to the value field so you can do a Global Change (or an export) of records that don't necessarily have a common denominator that you can use as a criteria. Very powerful!

  • @Ellen HannahJust ran a query in NXT and noticed that I cannot advance directly to the last record in the results. I actually use that a lot when I am creating large queries. Have I missed that feature somewhere?

  • @Crystal Bruce We are currently implementing RE NXT (moving off Banner) so I am very excited to use Query to replace our Chrystal Reports in a much for efficient manner. I can't wait!

  • @Crystal Bruce
    Query: daily gifts.

Experience: Like: I really like that the font is easier to read. Though there is a lot of white space, I can zoom out so I can see more rows and columns at once - so that's good. It's an easy query so it ran about the same amount of time. (Though, I had run some other queries that included giving total summaries, and I will say those ran much quicker in web view than database view.) Dislike: The big downer for me is that when I clicked to open a record within the query it really struggles to open and produce the record information in a timely manner.

Edit: I just ran a Query where I have a Yes/No filed and my user options are set to be TRUE/FALSE. I use that TRUE/FALSE setting for a pre-made formula that I use quite often with an exported Query. Web view Query does not honor my options set in database view for this. I see that they have added Code Tables to web view Query user options, which is wonderful, I hope the Yes/No filed display preference will be added, too. ?

  • @Crystal Bruce I am currently working with a query that checking employment details, it's called Employment Check up. I also have a plugin called SmartSocial that supposed to open a LinkedIn page when you open the record. The problem is when you open the record from the query this is a pop up window so the plugin is not working in this case.

  • @Crystal Bruce. We use a query called Active Funds which helps us to see progress towards our goals for the year. It was very easy to use this in Web view!

  • @Crystal Bruce. I'm often asked for a list of all constituents who gave to a particular appeal, fund etc. Webview is difficult for this because it won't show you an appeal or fund that is currently inactive (no checkbox for show inactive). Also its much more difficult to have to type in the name of the appeal or fund, than it is for it to automatically show all the active appeals and you can choose the ones you want.

  • @Crystal Bruce Gifts added yesterday. It's so easy to run a dynamic query and get all the updated data each day using the same query!

  • @Crystal Bruce I can't seem to access output queries from standard reports. Is this a feature?

  • @Crystal Bruce
Creating doner and prospect queries, we can now order the output easy by drag and drop. Though, removing an output now requires multiple clicks, whereas before it was drag and drop. Sharing queries as a link, means everyone who access the link will be able to see up-to-date information. Plus there is no saving and emailing of constituent confidential data.

Queries where a direct export is needed is useful in webView. Financial queries usually fall in this category. However, until the “Export” is set up in WebView I will still spend a lot of time in database View.

  • @Crystal Bruce I have two go to queries, gifts posted today and gifts needing acknowledgement. I don't find it quite as easy to use as DB view, but I'm working on it…

  • @Crystal Bruce
I utilize the query for mailing our fundraising materials.

  • @Crystal Bruce We run a daily query to make sure names and address import correctly from a giving site we use, checking donors put the correct information in the correct fields. At first the query opened with no results, which is not the case in db view, and having the additional ‘options’ tab threw me off because it is in the middle of the tabs you usually see in db view. I closed it and reopened it and the results were there and easy to edit if needed, like they are in db view

  • @Crystal Bruce I run a list of gifts given this fiscal year to create a dashboard. I really like the format of the query tab.

  • @Crystal Bruce I run a list of gifts each month to determine where they should be directed for our organization

@Crystal Bruce one of my most used queries is one pulling gifts with an assigned solicitor to the constituent that has not been added to the gift. Unfortunately, I cannot yet utilize this one in web view as I cannot add a solicitor to an existing gift. I appreciate that the runtime variables have already been activated in web view, though. That helps for other queries.

  • @Crystal Bruce had mail campaign results, so we can track the efficacy of our quarterly mailings.

  • @Crystal Bruce Daily and Month to date gift reporting.

  • @Crystal Bruce, oddly enough, I don't have one in particular that I use all the time. I know I check the Gifts Posted as Batch xxxx queries to make sure they've been marked acknowledged and that we've sent out applicable thank you gifts. Running it in web view was easy. I was able to add my favorite fields in the Output section without having to double click on everything like in database view. I only wish they had stayed in the order in which I'd saved them, rather than being sorted alphabetically.

  • @Crystal Bruce Creating a static query from RENXT and using it to prepare a list for sending out newsletters to our donors by email. This was previously done from the database view.

  • @Crystal Bruce I don't run one particular query every day. But do a lot of End of Week queries. I run Last Added and Last Changed to see where users are making the same mistakes and then train them on this. It works well. Unfortunately WebView doesn't appear to have mandate fields as DBView does, so often users put in basic information and then I check. However, training doesn't always work, and so it is a continuous clean up and training sessions.

  • @Crystal Bruce I really don't have a go-to query, but the one I check the most often these days a query that lists gifts that need donor acknowledgement letters for one of my clients. It is nice to be able to check it via a link to web view instead of needing to open database view. This particular client runs their letter exports through Mail, so I do need to go to database view if there are gifts to acknowledge.

  • @Crystal Bruce I run a weekly Query for changes to records as well as new constituents to be sure all updates have been properly completed.

  • @Crystal Bruce Hard to pinpoint just one - I ran our monthly reconciliation query in web view - the layout is familiar but more streamlined. Loading time was noticably slower, but no unusably slow. For bigger queries it might be a problem though. Exporting the queries straight to downloads via the browser is a good touch too.

@Crystal Bruce I have a query that takes a significant amount of time to execute in the database view, which I run daily. This query identifies various data issues, including information generated from event registrations and donations, allowing me to verify the accuracy of the data. I have noticed that the web view forms sometimes accept addresses without capturing apartment numbers and similar details, so I monitor these issues closely. Additionally, I have a mechanism in place for our fundraisers to request the deletion of specific actions or opportunities, which the query also addresses. I appreciate that the new web view query allows me to create a link that I have bookmarked, in contrast to the previous setup where it was located at the top of my database view favorites. It also enables the query to run efficiently in one tab while I perform other tasks in the database, whereas, in the database view, I often had to open another instance, which was slower and less convenient.

  • @Crystal Bruce throughout our current campaign, I'm currently running a gift query to check for correct appeal and package coding. I can access the records in the webview query as well as in databaseview, but I do find that the process is slightly slower, along with refreshing the query. But it's a relief that the functions in webview are mirror those in DB view more closely.
