Blackbaud Data Warehouse Query Views

Options

For the upcoming 4.0 release, we're in process of building a Constituent Query View sourced from Blackbaud Data Warehouse (BBDW). The initial goal is a simpler and faster query experience, while still having enough fields to run segmentation for a marketing effort.

One of our rockstar engineers, Ron Frum, did an initial proof-of-concept test last fall. That test's results showed the Calculate Segment Counts process completing about 4 times faster on BBDW compared to Blackbaud CRM's OLTP. (Sidenotes: As of 3.0, the Infinity SDK supports custom ad-hoc query views against BBDW. Ron's source code for this test is shared in the  Blackbaud CRM GitHub.)

We’re at a point in the development process where we want user validation, and could benefit from a campaign analyst, reporting analyst or "query power user" jumping on a WebEx to test-drive the new query view.

Finally, here's a sneak peek of what the query view looks like right now:

  • UPDATE:

We shipped the first out-of-box BBDW-sourced query view - Constituents - in the 4.0 release in Nov 2014. Thanks to all those who participated in user testing ahead of the release. As you download and test v4.0, please continue to provide feedback on how we can improve Constituent Query from the BBDW.

For the upcoming 4.0 Service Pack 1, we're building both a Revenue query view and a Revenue Recognition Credits query view sourced from Blackbaud Data Warehouse (BBDW). The initial goal is a simpler and faster query experience, while still having enough fields for reporting, list creation and business process selections.
