Event Tickets, Limiting registration quantity

Options

For the past 5+ years we have been using donation forms for people to regsister for dog training and would love to move this over to events.

We would like to offer two diferent ticket types (shelter adoptee/general public) but yet have one cumulative registration total. I can easily figure out how to set a limit for each ticket type but that will not work for us as we do not care what ticket type they choose, we just do not want more than 10 people registered for the event. Is there any way to do this? Thanks!

  • Hey Stacy,

What you could do is set the inventory limit on the two types of tickets to 10 and then make sure to set up the ticket notifcation so that it alerts you to when people register. Then when you hit the 10 ticket capacity for the class, go in and close registration.  It's a bit more work, but I don't know of another way of combining the tickets under one inventory limit.

Just a thought...The ecommerce tool might be a better approach to take with this as it has a better inventory check list.

Thanks for the response. We have a lot of training classes which is why we were hoping the system could do this for us :smileyhappy:

Where do you set up the ticket notification for registration alerts?

    Hey Stacy,

Ok, let me clarify how the event notfication works.  It's actually a report that you pull and set up to deliver on a recurring basis as an email.  Here's a link that explains how to best set this up.  It's actually pretty easy report to run and it will send you an email saying the report has run and you can view/download.  Sorry for the confusion.

Ah, you got me excited! I thought there was a notification similar to donations, I will look into the recurring report.

Is there anything that can be done with a promo code or would that still have two different ticket types and quantities available?

    Thanks!
