Digital Membership Cards

Options

Hello!

We are looking to implement digital membership cards. If your institutional uses digital membership cards, what company do you use? Are you happy with them? What are your pain points? If you have experience with several companies, a recommendation would be great!

Thank you,

We began using digital membership cards in 2018 with Museum Anywhere. It was a seamless integration with Altru, and our members took to the transition without much, if any, pushback.

Last year, we started using XtruLink integration for ticket sales, scanning, kiosks, and online sales. Since XtruLink has functionality for both the digital membership card and a dynamic membership online portal, we stopped using the Museum Anywhere app. Otherwise, we were very satisfied with their platform in terms of ease of use, customer support, and pricing.

Happy to answer any other questions about either platform.

  • @Elizabeth Grover Thank you for the feedback! We looked at Museum Anywhere a while back and didn't have a good demo experience, so we haven't put them in the mix this time around. We may look at them again after hearing this.

We also recently had a demo with XtruLink but they were unprepared for just offering membership cards which was a bit of a turnoff. I do like their web portal although it seems so expensive. How is XtruLink going for you all now? How large is your institution?

  • @Laura Taylor
We've been using Xtrulink for digital cards, kiosk sales, and ticket scanning for about eight months. We recently turned on the functionality for online sales, and it has been going well so far. The online user experience is a huge improvement over Altru's basic web forms—even with CSS. The ability to have a personalized gift message email sent to gift membership recipients on a date of the giver's choosing will be a game changer for us. We're also in the process of setting up cross-sales promotions for ticketed special events and membership sales.

Our membership base is about 18K-21K households, and we see over 600K visitors a year. Here's the link to our Xtrulink online sales page:

  • @Elizabeth Grover Thanks for the information, your site looks great! You are much larger than we are so you can absorb the cost of Xtrulink more easily. I really do like the product, but it doesn't make financial sense for us at this point - we only have about 100,000 visitors a year with 3000 (max) memberships. I appreciate your help!

We are starting with Speak Creative - PassPlay which I learned about during the last Altru Webinar. We are beginning the implementation phase, but it is going well so far.

Thank you Tamara! I actually hadn't heard of them before. I will check it out!

If you go to the Blackbaud Marketplace and type in Speak Creative PassPlay will come up.

We've been using Social Good Software for a few years now and have been pretty satisfied. The membership cards are sent out automatically, and can be added to digital wallets.

In addition to membership cards, they have a slew of other tools: Automated emails (member auto-bill reminders, digital event tickets, etc.), re-skinned and customized online shopping cart, automated calendars with event purchase links, ticket scanners, etc.

I've looked at others, like PassPlay and Xtrulink, but they were either far too expensive or had other shortcomings that didn't meet our org requirements.

    Hi Laura,

we use have been using PassPlay for almost a year now. It automatically sends the emails to our members with instructions on how to gain access to their digital cards. We also have been using their loyalty program and the members are taking advantage of the points we offer and rewards.
