Looking Up "First Names" vs. "Nicknames"

Options

Our institution will look up Memberships with a first and last name. We will try to get the name as it is spelled on their Photo ID, but if they purchase a Membership online they may enter in a nickname or their middle name (ie. they put their name as "Mike", but their ID says “Michael”). Most of the time this is a non-issue and they would let us know it might be under a different spelling, but it also causes some awkward interactions with first time members who do not realize it would make a difference. Has anyone run into this? Is there any way to enter in multiple spellings so you could look up either name?

You can enter a nickname on a constituent record, on the “Personal info” tab. You should be able to search for nicknames in a constituent search as well. When you are in the the constituent search screen, click “Show advanced search options.”

Then, you choose to include nicknames or aliases in your search.
