Fraudulent JustGiving Page?

I'm wondering if anyone has ever encountered a JustGiving page set up by a fraudulent account? We just had a fundraiser created and the individual has no connection to our organization currently, do not have a picture on their profile, the picture on the fundraiser does not match the content of the fundraiser, and all the content on the page is pulled from another one that recently ran. I don't really not what the benefit to the individual would be for setting up a fraudulent fundraiser, but on my guard with this one. Any information would be greatly appreciated!

  • @Eva Bloom hi Eva, you can report spam pages to Blackbaud support, or JustGiving support here. They should be able to remove the page.

  • @Eva Bloom I'm not sure of the exact guidelines but support should be able to help determine whether it's a spam page or not!

  • @Eva Bloom, I have had six separate fraudulent fundraising pages set up connected to a particular JG campaign within the last two weeks. The really wild thing is that I set that campaign up to NOT allow fundraisers to make their own pages from the very beginning. I am at my wits' end. I feel like I'm playing Whack-a-mole with these fake pages. Definitely contact BB support with the URL of the fraudulent page, and they can take it down. If it happens again, keep pestering BB support. It took them way too long to take me seriously and see that the fake fundraisers were not just a one-off problem for me.

  • @Eva Bloom I know others have said it but just want to reiterate to contact support and they will delete the page and they have said they will do further investigation. I have it as part of my practice now when I get an email that someone has created a new page I go and check it right away. Unfortunately, these steps are necessary to manage Just Giving. I feel like the scam pages ebb and flow, we will get a lot and then none at all.
