Problems with recommended model of receipt printer; suggestions?

We're using Epson TM-T88V printers, which are are listed among the recommended models compatible with Altru. Despite this, all itemizes sales/refund receipts are currently taking upwards of a minute to print.

The same printers were used successfully for almost a decade with our previous ticketing system, printing instantly at the end of a transaction, and we've followed every troubleshooting suggestion Blackbaud Support's been able to offer, without seeing any improvement. Fortunately we're still within our Go-Live window, so our case has been escalated for further investigation, but they also suggested reaching out to the Altru-user-community, hence why I'm here (hi!).

Has anyone else had difficulties with a recommended model of receipt printer? What models have you had success with? I did see a thread about a very similar issue, but it was from 2020 and seemed to have been resolved privately by a user who hasn't posted since then.

Our IT team suspects the un-editable .SVG receipt template could play a part in the issue - the base templates are apparently configured for 2.25 inch-wide receipt stock, while instructions for custom additions to the receipts say to set up your .bmp file with a 3-inch width …..but the actual receipt stock for Epson TM-T88V printers is 3.125 inches wide.

(On that note, while I know we can't modify actual SVGs for the itemized receipts, does anyone know if it's possible to swap them? Our branding team likes the font and formatting of the Itemized Refund Receipt better than that of the standard Itemized [sales]Receipt!)
