Gift Note requires loading Default Set twice?

Options
I'm using a Default Set to enter some gifts, and it includes a Gift Note.  However, when I load the Default Set, I have to click [New Notepad] and then Shift+F2 to load the Default Set again for the Note.  Has anyone ever noticed this before?  Any way to get it to add the Note when I load the Default Set on the Gift Record itself?  Not a huge deal, but a bit of a pain in the neck.

  • Hi Jennifer! The issue may stem from the original default set. When you go into the Tools menu and Organize/Create Defaults, have you ensured that there is some data in the Notes section? That might solve the problem. Also, there's a knowledgebase article (69311) that talks about loading the set twice. This may stem from the fact that a Note is kind of like a "subrecord" of sorts, beneath the gift record if you will. Clicking Shift+ F2 a second time as you have been doing is an easy workaround to ensure the information gets entered.
  • Thanks, Rachel.  There is data in the Notes section, because it puts it in there once I create a Note and reload the Default Set.  And the KB Solution talks about the check box for [Load Default Values Now], which has to be checked for any Gift Default Set to work.  I just wondered, because on a Constituent Record, I have a Default Set that loads the Constituent Note along with the other data in the Set.  Thought maybe I was missing something since the two operate differently, while doing essentially the same thing.
  • Hi Jennifer. I have the same issue and agree that this is inconsistent with the behaviour of default sets for new constituents. Thankfully I do not use gift notes often.
