Can data from an additional question for the team captain be associated with all team members?

Options
Hi there,

We are working on building a teamrasier that will be populated with teams of youth.  The team captain will be an adult. There is information we need associated with all team members but this information needs to come from the team captain. Does anyone have any experience doing this?  Is this possible in TeamRaiser?

Thank you!

  • Can you elaborate?

Captains can't edit the team mate records or anything like that, but they do control the team fundraising page.
  • Thank you for the response.  I'm looking to see if information asked as an additional question to the team captain (or another way) can be associated with all the team member's registrations.  We would then use this (hopefully) as an S tag to conditionalize copy, report on, etc.

  • Hi Hilary,

As Brian has stated, yes the Team Captain can opt to put that into the "Team Page" which would be seen by those who comes to the Team Page.  Note: a Team Page is public so whoever knows the URL and happened to go there can see the content being typed there by the Team Captain. ( More on the weighing -- i.e. Content pertinent to prospective team member(s) about registration would fit this use case, but otherwise team members would have already registered and read on if that might be your case..)

Alternatively if you rather want a slightly "private" / "member only" message that only Team members could view. The team captain could use the Message from Your Team Captain section that is going to be shown not on the Team Page, but within the Participant Center dashboard / homepage so only those that are members of the team could see that as they logged in and access their Participant Center. See attached screengrab  (Note -- Worries not about the layout you see on this screenshot, you can customize your Participant Center to your heart content, and this is just how it look on one of our actual event(s))

As for S-tag, this is not a readily accessible tool for use by end users, unless you / an administrator is doing it for each of all these team pages, in which then there are several options you could put that such as
    • Within the "HTML Area" of that "Default Team Page" of your TeamRaiser pages. Putting the S-tag there would ensure that it doesn't get override by these Team Captains that otherwise might be non-technical
    • Inserting it dynamically through Javascript alongside the S-tag -- putting the listener on the pagewrapper that check when it's a team page, and if you are looking for a particular team (by the team_id parameter), then show that.  The S-tag could also be used to function as further "member-only-when-logged-in" restriction where it will first check if the page is viewed by someone currently logged in, and then secondary check to see if that logged in person is part of the team member of that team.
    Hope it helps,

    regards,

    Daniel
  • Thank you for your response (also for some reason the system recognized me as a colleague, even though she was logged out - it was always me!).

I'm not looking for a team message.  The team captain will be an adult (teacher) and the youth will be anywhere from 6-12 years old, so what I'm hoping for is data from an additional question asked in the registration process to be associated automatically with the team members' registration.  This will be for information very important to each team member and to the event, but information the individual team members will likely not know (particularly as it will be parents registering their children).

I would think this would also come into play in certain corporate teams too - the captain knowing certain things that each of the team members may not, but is still important to have associated with each participant record (for instance, does their employer match gifts or are there any restrictions or benefits for that particular group).

We could go in and do this manually, but it would be preferred if this could be done automatically.

    Thoughts?

    Thank you!
