Online Express versus MailChimp Integration with Raiser's Edge

Options
Can you please tell me some pros and cons to synching Raiser's Edge with MailChimp to produce emails and newsletters versus Online Express? I learned today that Raiser's Edge can me integrated with MailChimp. I am interested in which is the easier to use and which option has the most features.

Thank you.

  • First, let me say that I like MailChimp and a lot of things they do. If I was starting a small business, then I'd probably use it.

But if I was a nonprofit organization with the Raiser's Edge, then I would say that Online Express is a better solution. Here are a few reasons why:

    1. Automated list building from The Raiser's Edge: Online Express will automatically pull constituent (individual and organization) addresses and merge field data. Online Express will also automatically refresh these lists when you send the message. Customers have said this saves them at least 20 minutes per email message.

    2. Conversion Tracking: When you send an email -- you want to know if it worked, right? Only Online Express has built in functionality specific to nonprofit organizations to track donation form and event registration conversions. You will see in real-time how your campaigns are performing from within The Raiser's Edge.

    3. Deep Raiser's Edge Integration: Online Express is smart enough to handle Addressee/Salutation functionality, multiple email types, support opt-outs automatically, and other key things like deduplication of emails. Not to mention that you can do everything from within The Raiser's Edge --- no extra software, passwords, or data going back and forth.

    4. Desktop and Mobile Friendly: Online Express allows you to create email messages that are both desktop and mobile friendly without having to write complex code. Online Express is also going to track all the key metrics like opens, clicks, conversions, bounce rate, and opt-outs.

    I hope this helps!
  • Thanks Steve. Two other questions....(our organization is working with our account manager to discuss purchasing OE). Does OE require EFT for recurring gifts and do you have to have the tribute module for a donor to make gifts in honor or in memory of someone? If so, are these modules included with the OE purchase or does one have to purchase them separately? And, also is the mobile version part of OE or is that an additional module and/or fee? Lots of questions. :-)

Yes, the RE EFT module is required to handle recurring donations and the RE Honor/Memorial Tracking module is required to handle tribute gifts. These modules are not included with Online Express.

The mobile friendly forms and email templates are included with Online Express. No additional modules or fees.

Thank you. I may do that as I continue to research our options.
  • Hi Steve

Is it possible to upload email newsletters that you send via Online Express onto your website? Or create a PDF version to have on file?

    Many thanks

    Rebecca
