Salutation merging issues (selection process and appearing as labels in email)

Options
We are having 2 issues when merging salutations into an email communication.

1. The addressee and salutation selection fields are defined by types (i.e. primary ..., secondary..., tertiary...,) not addressee and salutation shown in Steve’s “What merge fields can I used in an email message?” dated 6/17/13. The system I developed is similar to using RE’s mail merge addressee/saluation hierarchy selection process (i.e. use defined field type, if not primary). Since Online Express addressee/salutation field selections are available separately, will I need to return to creating separate queries to correctly email by types.

2. The addressee/salutations appeared as field labels when our communications manager emailed test. Thank you

Hi Debbie. I'm not sure I understand the details of your particular scenario, but you can set up to three add/sal mappings, from the Online Express Account menu, select Integration options, then Addressee/Salutation. From here, you can select which add/sal types in RE you would like to make available to Online Express. For example, in the case below, I have board add/sal, primary add/sal, and formal add/sal mapped. You can then add the corresponding merge fields into your emails.

As for test emails - merge fields won't populate with any data since there is no RE data to merge into a test email address.
  • Matt the problem is not with mapping; the issues I described occur when creating a personalized email in email marketing. Please send me your email address and I'll forward the email received that contain the salutation field type labels and the change in the merge selection when creating in email marketing.
