What is wrong with TEMPLATE? please advise

Options
I used a specific template so that the very important info re: STATS would appear at the top so it would be easily seen. I am pretty upset ...it all got moved around and when we sent appeared at the bottom.

What I need to know is WHICH TEMPLATE can I use that WILL NOT be modified upon sending.

Thanks!

Nikki

Hi Nikki. I'm not sure I follow.

Do you have a screenshot or an example that could help clarify the issue you are describing?
  • I already sent the screenshot to the first person ..I will send the screen shot again in another email in just a moment. The issue is that I select a template based on placing things in a certain order for maximum impact. Then once I send it ...everything MOVES. The things that are very important moved to the bottom ...I thought that this was made specifically with responsive design programmed already in ??? What I am looking for here is a template that I can work with ...and know...that when I send it...that it WILL NOT move things around on mobile devices. So that would mean that the template must have responsive design and be able to convert exactly the same to mobile devices....sorry...just frustrated....
  • unfortunatley I cannot send it to you. The hospital does not allow. if you would like to tell me a cell phone number I can try to text it? In any case....it does not look at all like the template I picked.

Hi Nikki - thanks for the extra detail, I think I understand what you mean now. Correct me if I'm wrong, but when you design an email and check it on a mobile device, content is moving in a way you are not expecting?

This behavior is actually how responsive email templates work. Content that would flow from left to right on a desktop display will flow from top to bottom on a mobile display.

Check out this infographic from the folks at Litmus to see what I mean, especially the section titled "What is possible with responsive email design" with the before and after. Note how content was flowing left to right, then goes from top to bottom in the mobile view:

    Responsive email design

Online Express automatically accommodates this responsive behavior so content is readable and accessible on mobile devices. We are looking into adding a feature in the future that will allow you to get a rough preview of your email on both desktop and mobile displays, that can help you frame your content up so things cascade nicely.

If this isn't what you are experiencing on your end, let me know and I'll reach out to you via email to get some more information.
  • Any idea when this update will be available ...re: feature that will allow us to view a preview of how it will appear on a mobile device verses desktop? Or any tips of another way to skin the proverbial cat until that update is available....????
  • this is exactly what I need. you are completely right.

Hi Nikki. I don't have a date for when the email preview feature will be available, but it is an item on our backlog that we would like to include in the product.

Even once we have the preview feature, I would encourage you to use the test message feature and take a look at the message on a mobile display to get an idea of how it will render.

As far as tips, remember that multi-column email content will respond on mobile where content on the left will be on top, and content on the right will move below. If you want to avoid any column shifting, a single column layout is certainly a good option that many successful email campaigns take advantage of.
