Mail Merge

Options
I need to set up a mail merge where I can produce a letter and envelope in the same merge or is there a better way to handle it?  I would like to be able to do it all at one time rather than do two merges one for letter and one for envelope.  Is this possible?

I thought I'd read a post quite some time ago by someone who did this but can not find it now.  I thought it sounded like a good idea but then realized with the printers I had at the time it wouldn't be possible to print letter > envelope > letter > envelope...

So if I just have a couple/few envelopes and don't want to do a separate merge I just print the envelope while in the Word doc by clicking Mailing > Envelope.  Extra clicks but easier for a few sometimes that separate merge especially if I've edited mailing info after merging.

It maybe posible to print the everyother if your printer has multiple trays and can handle that.  Wish I could have found the post.  You may need to look at help in MS Word for how to do it.
  • Not sure exactly what you're looking for, but we do this, sort of.  I got frustrated long ago with needing to use two separate functions in Mail and set the parameters exactly the same to ensure that the address on the letter and on the envelope match.  So we use Export to a MS Access database (as the backend) and then we have another MS Access database (the frontend) that is linked to the backend mdb.  It's been developed over time, and now runs envelopes, letter merges, pre-filled reply card merges, lists for the mailhouse, lists for fundraising staff, etc.  All with the same data, so the pieces all match, whichever pieces are being used.
  • We have a two page mail merge setup from the same list.  The first page in the mail merge is the envelope and the second page is the letter.  It works really well, we use it all of the time.
  • Have done this for years, when you set your document up in mail add your envelope to the document then do the page set up for the envelope for "this section" then move to the letter part and set up the page setting for "this section" when you print it will alternate between the envelope and the letter. I have an envelope feeded on my printer but could also use the manual tray for envelopes.
