Deleting Bad Emails

Options
I am trying to globally delete a bunch of bad email addresses and I don't see a delete option for phone type in Global Change, only add or replace. When we get bouncebacks from an email campaign I import a Mail Code Attribute of Bounced Email into the records.  Based on that I have a query of 288 records and I really don't want to have to delete each one manually. I know I can use the Attribute to exclude those records when running lists, but I would rather the bad email not exist in the record.  Any thoughts?

  • In the past, I have globally changed the phone type to a bounced email type. You can either leave them like that or delete them by using the Delete Phones plug-in.

We've also changed type to something like Invalid Email / Former Email.  I've left them on the record that way so when I'm given the email again I know it's bad and don't add it as good again.
  • Thanks JoAnn and Sunshine! Changing the email type is a great idea!
  • We use the Delete Phone plug-in to remove
invalid phones (e.g. duplicates), but we do not remove the bad
emails.  We mark them with a type of “E-mail – Bad” but keep
them on the record, so that we don’t accidentally put the bad email
back when we run an email service or find the email some other
    way.

  • Similar to JoAnn and Sunshine -- I treat it like a new address and that way we have dates and a record of the old email and I mark it DNC and make a note.  Not sure how this will work for 7.94 as we haven't updated yet.  But I'm in the midst of some major clean up at a new org and I'm revisiting this.
