Posting Multiple Actions

Options
Does anyone know of a way to post multiple actions at one time? For example, from a Dashboard view of a Donor List, I would like to highlight 20 or so donors and identify that I sent them each an Easter card with a personal note. Is there a way to do this once, and have it apply to those 20 or so donors, as opposed to 20 separate entries? Thanks.

  • You can globally add an action but you'd have to group your 20 constituents into a query.

I don't think there's a way to arbitrarily grab the records (by marking them) except by creating a query for them.

Or in Default Sets you could quickly create an action and use the default set to add to your 20 records. But you'd still need to open each record in order to do this.

    Ditto Gina's response.

When I've had similar situation I've done global add.  The query's not to hard.  I have one I use regularily called "A Specific Record".  Criteria is constituent field "specific record" one of ---.  I just use F7, enter last name, select record, Tab, F7.  Much easier than selecting Last name equals or other options.  Then take query to my global add.

If your dashboard list is only 25 you could consider a query list and exclude the ones not receiving.  But if list is long, I think query/global add is easier.
  • Don't forget about the copy/paste donor IDs trick to quickly make a query from a list of IDs.
  • Another GREAT way to quickly create a Query of seemingly random Constituents (say you've got them in an Excel spreadsheet, but can't easily group them with a Query in RE) is a handy FREE utility called SmartPaste that will let you easily copy all the Constituent ID's in the spreadsheet and paste them all into a "Constituent ID is one of ..." Query criteria.

  • This is what Action Track is for! Set up the Action Track with the ONE action, then Query the CIDs and run the Track. Once it's set up, you can use it over & over by changing the card type and dates.
