Export Years Giving Summary

Options
We are beginning to discuss loyalty giving, not necessarily consecutive. I see there's a "years giving" number on the gift summary tab of a record. I don't see any way to access or export this number outside this pop-up, only consecutive. Can anyone offer some ideas?

Also, if you track this sort of information, any input would be appreciated. We're in the beginning stages of brainstorming this.

    Jane,

Unfortunately RE is not especially user friendly when it comes to loyalty/consistent giving.  Consecutive giving can be pulled but it's not so easy to see even something like gave 3 out of any of last 5 years.  There are older posts in the forums about this that you may still be able to find.

I think was the only way to get this: Set up a query of donors (whatever criteria you want) but then to take that query to the Export function and create an elaborate export which exports the total amount given for each year.  It's repeatedly selecting total giving and setting the criteria for every year you want to look at.  So to see 15 year history, you'd export giving total 15 times.  Then you can set up formulas in excel to count # of fields with greater than $0. It takes some work to set it up initially but then you can just add current year for future use.

That's been my experience trying to get similar info out of RE.
  • Thanks for your reply, I had similar thoughts about workarounds. Saw a posting in the knowledgebase, thanks for the suggestion dated 2001! I guess it's not high priority. I also have to set up attributes to keep it going once we set this project up, and was hoping there would be some easy, non-manual method to keep constituent records up to date without risking human error.

    Again, appreciate your input!

Your other option could be doing a gift export rather than a constituent one, dumping all the information in Excel, and using a pivot table to count numbers of gifts per person per year.

I do this the same way as JoAnn - with an elaborate export with each year's total giving, and setting up formulas in Excel.

Would love to find an easier way to do this.
  • I have a similar solution. Load all the gifts that meet the criteria into Excel. Add a column that gives just the gift year ( using formula =Year). Use the de-dupe to leave only one gift per constituent per year. Then use a pivot table to count the gifts.
