Does Anybody Use Magic Folder?

Options

Hi,

I'd like to find out more information about Omatic's Magic Folder.  I had heard about it a while ago on the forums and we "sort of" downloaded, but we never really got it up and running properly.  I think even our IT guys were a little stumped by it.  But I'm willing to give it another try.  We really want to go paperless in our office, and I think with a new document feeding scanner and something like Magic Folder we can do it.  I think PaperSave is just going to be too expensive for us.  So can anyone tell me if this product is easy to use and has it really helped your office to use less paper and to efficiently store donor files and gift documentation in donor records?  I've been to the Omatic website, and I just requested a demo, but other than that, their website doesn't exactly explain how the whole thing works...I'd appreciate any help with this!

Thanks so much!

Thanks, Chase!  I actually have been in contact with them, and I'm working with our IT person to help set it up.

Have you used this product though?  I'd love to hear from a user if it works well for them...

    Hi Jackie,

We use MagicFolder extensively and are very happy with it.

has it really helped your office to use less paper and to efficiently store donor files and gift documentation in donor records?

I'm honestly not sure if we use less paper (and this was never really the aim for us), but it does make it easy for our fundraisers to find information easily. We store all sorts in there, including shortcuts to folders/documents that are stored outside of MF.

Tip: Unless you're all using AppOmatic, I'd recommend making a notepad type for "contents of MagicFolder", so that people can see on the RE record that they ought to check it.

Happy to answer any other questions you might have.

Thank you so much, Tom! We actually will be using Appomatic once it's set up. I'm really glad to hear that this product works for you, because we really want to try something that stores documents that "connect" with Raiser's Edge, but that doesn't cost too much (can't beat free!).

Have you tried any of the other apps that Appomatic offers?

    Hi Jackie,

We did evaluate AppOmatic quite early on. Although we're not using it currently, we were impressed by several aspects of it. IIRC, we were most excited about the custom view panels. I imagine it's come on a long way since we last looked, so please let me know what you think.

    Cheers,

    Tom
