RE and FE Integration

I have a question for anyone who is integrated with RE/FE. We have a fund called "Presidential Grant" which raises money for tuition assistance. We hold events which raise money for this fund. Our FE users want us to have funds named after our events so it is easier for them to track. Their argument is that if the money from our Spring Event went directly into the Presidential Grant Fund they would not be able to tell which money in the Presidential Grant Fund was a strict donation and which came from an event. They asked that we create funds in a way that is needed for the financial reporting part. Does this make sense? We would prefer to have the fund called Presidential Grant and have appeals called "Spring Fling" etc. Any advice would be appreciated!

If the reports financial reports you mention are coming from FE then I would go with using a separate fund. Appeal codes are not brought over when posting to FE, so your finance department would have no way to figure out event income. 

Also, the separate fund would also be used to track expenses in FE, which is useful if you need to see your net income from the event. 

You can use the separate fund code, and when the event is over and everything is paid your finance department can move the net proceeds in FE from the event fund to the Presidential Grant fund.
