Exporting Gift Processing Reports to Excel

Options

My Foundation has just gone live. We are trying to run a report that goes to our Business Office that shows the Fund ID, Gift Type, Gift Amount based on Fund, and Account to be credited. We have already tried the Batch Validation Report and Account Distribution Report, along with the Cash Receipts Journal, but when exporting them to Excel the formatting gets weird. It's a fairly straight-forward report, but we can't export it into CSV format in Excel without it looking atrocious. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

I'm not sure what your issue might be.  I've never really had a problem exporting reports to excel.

I just opened the Account Distribution Report, clicked preview, then clicked export icon (next to the usless lightning bolt).  I chose CSV just to see what I'd get.  Sheet looks fine other than number of unneccessary columns.

Also exported to Excel 8.0.  Data looks fine other than DB amount and GL account on separate line for the pledges booked as accounts receivable.

If your exports are really messed up, I suggest a screen share with support.  They might be able to ID the issue.

Don't know that batch validation report pulls GL#s.  Does Cash Receipts Journal have GL distributions? Don't remember seeing it.

I agree that exporting reports to excel they often look terrible with extra columns/rows and sometimes the columns not lining up.

What is the purpose of the report you are trying to run? What will your business office be using the report for?

Just on a side note JoAnn -- the "useless lightning bolt" allows you to change from your default printer to another printer temporarily.

Regarding side note - the icon to the left of the lightning bolt changes printers.  If the lightning bolt is to change printers why when I hover over it does pop-up text say "Refresh Data"?  Supposedly the lightning bolt is to refresh data. When you click it you get a pop-up asking "Refresh report data?".  I've made changes on a record or two and clicked the refresh button by my report has not changed.  Maybe it works for some but it has never worked for me - I have asked support and never gotten a good response why.

Maybe it changes your printer, but it doesn't change mine or refresh data.

JoAnn is correct, at least for me, the lightning bolt says it will refresh data but it does not. The icon to change printers does not work if you are hosted using Citrix. I don't see any of my other printers only the default.

I'm qualifying my reply to this. The lightning bolt does refresh data if you change the Constituent's record and then click on the icon. If you make a change in the report criteria it does nothing though. I had the Cash Flow Report up and wrote off a pledge, clicked the Lightning Bolt and it reflected the write-off.

Glad to know it works for some things - had it work on one report - can't remember which one.

Regarding the 'refresh" option.  I've tried several times to refresh and had no changes.  Gone to gift record to change/update a solicitor assignment/gift amount credited and then 'refreshed' data with no change to the solictor analysis report.  Saved record, saved report, tried numerous things to see why it wasn't working.  Wish it did work - just extra steps to close and run report again.
