Identifying the main record in RE Search

Options

It is common for us to have constituent records for a parent corp, its corporate foundation, subsidiaries, etc. They are related but at a glance, when searching on the corporate name, it is not obvious which record is used as the "main record." In other words, the record that fundraisers should use for adding actions and proposals. Does anyone have a suggestion for flagging the "main record" so that the indicator appears in the search window?

It can be confusing with several records with same corporate name.  Possible idea you could try or adapt even more would be to include the Parent Corporation field or add an attribute indicating it's the main record and then include the desired field in the default query you use for opening constituents.

RE has a default query, but we changed ours years ago to include other fields.  I think there's a knowledgebase solution on how to change it but it's pretty easy and any fields you put in the query output can be displayed in the open constituent/search window.

Just a thought...maybe someone else will have another idea.

The attribute is a good idea and I am familiar with setting your own default query. This might be a winner for us. Thanks JoAnn!
