Matching Addresses

Options
I am looking to report/query on our Alumni that share an address with their Parents. In the past I would export alumni and their parent and their addresses and manually view the list for duplicate addresses. The duplicate report searches for duplicate constituent not only address. Is their an easier way to query to get these results? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

Options/Answer depends on what version/update you are running.

If 7.92 see BB67910 - it only runs for duplicates using the built in algorithm.  Sort of limiting.  Think there's a suggestion on the discovery site asking for more user options.  Other forum posts about results too.

BB310280 and this KB solution both give answers if not running 7.92

How to find constituents with the same address
This solution is applicable to The Raiser s Edge version 7.91. The Duplicate Constituent Report in The Raiser s Edge 7.92 does not offer the option to search by address .BB160034 Maybe check with support - otherwise it sounds like manual work in Excel.   Don't know if there's a plug in to find duplicates that works with 7.92

The 7.92 Duplicate Tool has an algorithm is hard-coded and is used by default within the database. User selected duplicate fields are no longer present in version 7.92. SERIOUSLY? We can no longer search for constituents who share the same address, such as alumni, still have listed at their parent's address? The suggestion from support was to export my database to Excel to find duplicates. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? This is a REALLY BAD UPDATE. Please, please fix this!

I agree - not a fan of the 'algorithm'.  Last time I did dup search pulled some that really didn't make sense and seemed to miss some too.

I agree. This new duplicate search does NOT work for me. In fact, Support told me to have my IT person run whatever SQL has to be run now. Like he has time to do MY work!? I second that - PLEASE FIX! Ed

I'm not sure exactly what your purpose is, but you could export constituents and then sort by address, and use conditional formatting to find exact dupes.  You could run AddressAccelerator beforehand to make sure everything is consistently formatted.
