Allow participants to paste links and images into RTE content areas

Options

Hello Blackbaud Community.

I'm having trouble allowing participants to paste links and images into the RTE within their Participant Centers and having them appear on their personal pages.

I'm attaching a screen shot of the related settings, which are accessible from the Select Event Options > Edit Advanced Options > Define Misc Options interface.

I have an open case with Blackbaud Support, but I'm being told it's a bug and might never have worked. Just curious if anybody out there has used this functionality and has any advice on how to get it working on our events.

Thanks very much,

Adam

  • Hi Adam,

The problem as you see from the returned error message within my attached screengrab is caused by that text area only permitting certain HTML tag, where <img> tag might not be one of them. And yes we are also affected by this so called bug

It should unlikely be categorized as unsolvable  especially from their (Convio engineers) end as this would just be a matter of changing the configuration / setting within their backend to allow <img> tag to be allowed / permitted for use within that text area.  Common other CMS platform like Drupal does have this configuration panel where one could defined what HTML tags are allowable, likely also the tinyMCE (which is the RTE plugin that's being used on that Participant Center) likely have similar setting -- but all would need to be integrated / communicated with the entire platform.

Further strengthening my opinion above, is that how could on other section the same page editor within the same Convio platform allow <img> and while these personal or team page update does not (i.e. you can drag and drop image onto your email text area on that same Participant Center)

But again take it with grain of salt -- This is just my personal observation / thought looking at it from the perspective of us as user / developer outside coming with no history / complete background on the entire Convio cms/lo platform structure / how it was built

As for workaround -- both personal page and team page have the save upload image / video that comes with the default PC2 where one could still upload an image or a video (that's the limitation) onto their page.  You can then target / style it by targetting the component within your pagewrapper.

    Hope that helps.

    regards,

    Daniel

    Thanks for your response, Daniel.

  • Several years have passed and I'm still observing that the settings to enable participants to paste links and/or images into the RTE content areas (Edit Teamraiser > 3. Select Event Options > c. or d. Define Misc Options > #10 Rich Text Editor Available for Content in Participant Pages) seems to do nothing. I have tested this by pasting text that contains hyperlinks from Word into the body of the participant's page, to no avail.

Does anyone know if this is still a bug?
