Remote or Hybrid type positions

Options

Wondering how common these types of positions are in the non profit sector. We are a hospital with quite a few hybrid type positions. The leadership is considering bringing these positions back to work onsite fulltime. I'm just curious as to how many people do still actually work remote or a hybrid position. Thanks in advance.

@Vickie Ballard I work for a small consulting firm and we are entirely remote. I think that the vast majority of our clients have hybrid or fully remote work environments. A friend of mine works in a hospital foundation and they are hybrid.

@Vickie Ballard It depends on the job and the person. As a database manager at an independent high school, I work best having this flexibility. I can get so much more done at home than I can in the office. I'm also self-driven and have a proven track record of being productive at home. I've been hybrid for 19 years. My job satisfaction would drop if I didn't have this option and a decent system at home that belongs to my employer to get it done. Office space is so tight where I work, and there can be a cost saving with hybrid work if people can share spaces.

Looking forward to how others answer.

  • @Vickie Ballard I believe it really depends on the position. As the Director of Donor Stewardship overseeing Raiser's Edge and various other platforms, I have a hybrid role—working two days remotely and three days in the office. I’ve been with the foundation for about five months, and it’s been working out well.

At my previous employer, I oversaw a team of five, and we had a hybrid schedule as well. They were all part of the contributions team, with the exception of one role that couldn’t be remote due to the nature of the position. My role there was overseeing Raiser's Edge and all funds collected within the organization. So, I do believe it can work if there’s a solid plan in place and accountability.
