Help, what does this error message mean? OLX Event form

Options

A user got the following message (multiple tries, different modes (phone, safari, google, desktop, laptop) after an event form was submitted:

"After parsing a value an unexpected character was encountered: O. Path '[0].attributes[0].value', line 1, position 489"

I then went in and updated form to include a Free option to test, and I also got the same error message.

This form has been successful in the past, with registrations coming through before this without issues.

Search in Knowledgebase does not show any results. Any ideas?

  • @Sharon Kulczyk Hi! Thanks for posting. I'd recommend trying a different browser, since it has worked in the past with no issues. If that doesn't work, I recommend reaching out to Blackbaud support.

Do you have custom question being asked on the form and the custom question is based on a participant attribute that is a “selection” (meaning table entries)? (most likely)

If so, check the table entries for the attribute (table), and see if any values has some special characters (not alphanumeric characters). If so, that's the problem.

Yes, we actually made change Friday to one of the Breakout session titles (table/attribute) and it involved quotation marks. I just removed that and a test went through successfully. Thank you - I figured it had to do with one of the attributes (tables) somehow from the error message and realized we altered it and no other ones had come through since the change was made.

Fingers crossed it works and I can remove the Free option.

    Thanks again!

Thanks Crystal, for your quick reply. I did a chat with support and she was going to get back to me after researching it further via email. If my fix works, then I need to contact her so I can say its no longer an open issue. Hopefully.
