Queue Error

Options

Over the last 3 weeks a queue that we have been using daily for about 3 years is suddenly failing after the exported file get to about 275KB. The Queue Validation Report tells us the problem is that "the export format you selected in Queue requires that you enter the number of records to be exported. To fix the problem, you should enter the number of record types to be exported on the criteria screen in the Export Record.”

As I mentioned before we use this query every day and nothing has changed in the export set-up to suddenly provoke this error. Plus, when I go in and run the query manually each morning, which I need to do now, it works perfectly.

We do have some other queues that we run weekly and those are continuing to execute properly. I have deleted the original queue and rebuilt it, but we still seeing the same failure. Has anyone else encountered this? Any ideas on how to work around this?

  • @Robin Evans Make sure that only on Queue is running at a time. We had an issue with setting all of our Queues to run at midnight each day. None ran. We eventually figured out to set them 30 minutes apart.

    @Robin Evans
    there is some conflicting info here.

    sounds like your Queue is having error on the exporting from Export module, but you said when you run the Query, it works perfectly. So what works perfectly when manually done? exporting from the Query, or exporting from the Export?

  • @Robin Evans If you haven't already, I would start a support case for this. I've found Queue to be a bit on the temperamental side so it wouldn't surprise me if there is something to do with the size of the Export causing the issue.

  • @Alex Wong
    Sorry, I meant that I manually run the export each morning and it runs to completion with no problems.

    not sure, but a few wild guess:

    • I assume you created a separate user like BB recommend to run the queue
    • don't run more than 1 queue at same time
    • instead of manually going to Export module to export, try running the Queue on demand
    • lastly open ticket with support if not already
  • @Robin Evans I know this probably isn't the answer you want to hear, but it's just the Queue module. It breaks all the time. Contact support, and don't take no for an answer. It might take them 3 months to get it fixed, but they always do.

    We also have found that 'large' queue tasks are unstable, while smaller ones are much more reliable.
