Constituent job promotions

Options

Hello - I'm wondering how people record constituent's job promotions. For example, I have a gentleman that's been promoted three times in his company over the years. Should I note those promotions and dates in the Notes/Attributes tab in his Org relationship, or should I be putting an end date on that relationship then add a new relationship (to the same company) with a new start date and job title? Thanks!

  • @Clancy Healy We just add the new title and make a note, as opposed to creating a whole new Business.

    @Clancy Healy - Welcome to BB Community Forums! I don't track promotion/job changes unless you plan on reporting on it in the future. Second Joe - just write over the position field with the new title..

    @Clancy Healy Welcome
    I agree, don't create whole new org relationship. I inherited a mess of those and a procedure that really seems like a waste of time.

    We do have an attribute on org record for ‘Employment Details’ with description options of ‘previous position/title’ and ‘position at retirement.' I have followed the tradition here of usually copying position over but as I've been here some time now and really do not get asked to pull it for anything I'm ready to drop it from our procedures.

    I just want to have one org relationship with current title. (e do insert ‘Retired’ in front of position when person retires because we do keep that relationship as the primary especially for use with matching gifts.
