Gift Aid Automatic Qualification on OLX donation form despite donor unticking qualified for Gift Aid

Options

Hi all, following noticing that a donor who has an active Gift Aid Declaration on their record, had requested for a recent donation not to qualify for Gift Aid and therefore unticked the specific box for Gift Aid Qualification, Gift Aid was still taken as qualified.

I received the following explanation from Support which is far from satisfactory. Please could this be added as a matter of urgency to be looked into.

“I have looked into this further and can confirm that if a Constituent chooses not to claim Gift Aid on the OLX form whilst they have an Active Declaration set up in RE, the gift will still be marked as Qualified in RE. RE is not smart enough to update the gift as Not qualified based on the options the constituent chooses on the form. If the constituent does not want to claim Gift Aid on 1 gift they would need to contact you to end their existing Declaration before making the donation. Another way this could be updated would be to change the Qualification method of the gift within Batch before it is committed to Not Qualified but this would require manual work of checking if the constituent has a valid declaration set up or not. ”

Thanks

This might be something to add to the ideas bank. It is is possible to change the text on that part of the donation form, so you could update it to say that supporter's should email or phone to update about changes in GA status. This might work in the meantime.

Thank you so much Rachel. I will add that onto the area of the online donation forms, it should help for future donations. Just a little concerned about previous ones that may have been claimed incorrectly.
