Who are my employee givers (simple way?)

Options

Okay, I know I'm overthinking this, and it's been a bit of a harried training for me as I inch near the 2 month mark at the office and trying to learn EVERYTHING…

…but, here's my simple thing I'm overthinking.

Who are my giving employees?

I know I can query and say “appeal ID = ‘Employee Giving’” … or “Constituent Code = ‘Payroll Deduction’" … I can throw in a “Gift Date = ‘last year/this year’”

But, this could be pulling someone who was an employee giving 2 years ago, but since hasn't but made a different kind of gift.

Feels like I should be able to say ‘gave an employee gift in 2023’ .. I'm missing something so obvious I bet.

@Ryan Moore Is your appeal ID on the gift, or only on the constituent record?

  • @Ryan Moore Have you put parentheses around the Appeal and the Date range? If you're using a Constituent Query and looking for specific gifts, grouping the criteria for a single gift with parentheses can help.

@Ryan Moore I would use the criteria you have with “AND” for each. It should pull those gifts coded with appeal of ‘employee giving’ who have constituent code of payroll deduction and use date range for your employee giving.

If you use a combo of “AND” and “OR," do use ( ). Any criteria outside of the ( ) applies to all criteria outside the ( ).

As @Marie Stark asked, is the appeal part of the gift record? That is best option.

Note, we use payroll deduction as a gift code. Constituent code (reason they are in our database) is faculty/staff.
