Copy and Pasting Multiple Values in "One of" Query Box

Options

Hey y'all! I've been trying to copy and paste of list of selected constituent IDs and creating a query that isolates only that list. However, when I try to enter them into the “One of” constituent ID query box, they only paste the first value. I found this article confirming that I should be able to just copy and paste my entire list, but it hasn't been working for me. I have unfortunately been required to manually enter each ID, which I obviously hope to avoid! Any tips on this process? I have already tried scrolling up and down to ensure that they're not just obstructed - it really does only paste the first ID in the list!

Thanks in advance!

@Kenzie Brown Be sure you scroll down before you paste.

@Dariel Dixon I've tried SMARTPaste plugin, too. Have you noticed that sometimes not al of the IDs are pasted?

@Irene Hui: I've had this problem with SmartPASTE and have not yet had a chance to review with SmartTHING. I was literally missing hundreds of IDs when I did a side to side comparison of using SmartPASTE vs. pasting myself.

As others have mentioned, I would either use “One of” and scroll down to the bottom to paste up to 500 entries at a time, or use Import to create a query output and use that.

@Irene Hui I've not had that problem.

I agree with other postings. It should work as long as you don't exceed 500 rows, you scroll down to the last row in the Values grid, and then Paste using CTRL+V. It's not perfect since you must requery for every 500 rows, but that's RE

  • @Madeleine Holdsworth You no longer have to scroll to the last row. Just click in the scroll field and then any row and then paste in up to 500 numbers.

If you have to do this more than a couple of times, I use the ID import method. So much easier.

@Carlene Johnson Thanks! :) I haven't had a chance to look into it either. Just ended up reverting back to doing the “one of” and pasting from the bottom.

@Irene Hui I have noticed this. I usually add the first # on the list at the end as it often does not paste in.

I usually can account for why.

    • I missed copying bottom or top of list
    • Record on list more than once
    • In my query, the include deceased/inactive/no address box got unchecked - just happened today.

I have recently started having issues getting lists pasted in. Just malfunctions, flashing fields. I think it is likely due to overuse of same query. I just update the criteria data but have fields set that I want in output.

@JoAnn Strommen Or error caused by me touching my computer. LOL Having quite the morning. SmartThing/Paste is serious about you cannot do anything else until all the IDs or whatever you are pasting in the criteria has finished.
Restarted my paste as it was easier than finding exact spot in the 6900 records and doing a second paste. ?

@JoAnn Strommen ?. I usually am trying to post back a mailing list with SmartPASTE. It does flash as it is populating, and when I run the query, it's way short the number of records in my postback file.
P.S. Your Calvin and Hobbes profile pic is awesome!

@Irene Hui: I would suggest trying to reach out to @Warren Sherliker to see if he can provide some assistance with SmartPASTE.

@Dariel Dixon Oh cool, thank you for the contact name. Much appreciated. :)

  • @Dariel Dixon Hi, Warren here from SmartTHING (who provide SmartPASTE for FREE). We were not aware of paste issues and missing records. In the past, it has often been gaps in the data being pasted, duplicates in that data or use of the mouse/keyboard whilst pasting. We are open to looking into issues though. We have a support desk at support at smartthing.org and given enough info to recreate/test issues we can give a go at solving this for people. Cheers. Warren

@Dariel Dixon LOL there's flashing and then there's error type flashing. Instead of “one of” the field starts flashing other criteria options and on ID # for each flash. It's time to hit ‘cancel.'
