Events Registrations: Tickets purchased by an individual on behalf of a company

Options

Hello

I am hoping to get some advice on how people handle data entry when hosting events. I'm sure a lot of people have a similar experience where an individual will make a ticket/table purchase but it is on behalf of their company. The company is the record where we would like to see the event participation but because it was an Executive Assistant or another representative of the company that made the actual purchase a record is created in RE and the ticket purchase shows as a gift on their record. When we go back to the lists the next year (which we are doing right now) the fundraisers get annoyed that the company as well as the person is showing up in their lists of people to contact because it appears to be duplication. I understand you would want to contact an individual not a general company but if it is an EA then the fundraiser doesn't want to reach out to the assistant so they do not want them in their list.

Is there a better way to manage this?

Thanks!

We have the event module, so this may not apply, but perhaps a variation might? Can you set the participation for the individual as “purchased tickets for company" and then include that info when giving the list to the gift officers? Or just exclude them based on this participation if the gift officers totally don't want those folks included?
