Batch Exceptions

Options

Hi everyone, we are noticing batch exceptions when we have 2 gifts paying the same pledge and each of those gifts has a different tribute on them. We have never had a problem with this before, so these exceptions are a new thing to us. Any ideas why? Thanks!

what is the exception message the batch is giving you? you can try looking up in KB for that exception and likely if it isn't a recent bug introduced into RE, there would be some kb to help you.

It didn't give a message, the batch went through fine, then we noticed an exception batch was made.

@Amber Scott Do your batches normally have a batch control report? The reason for the exception will be there.

We do have them. We don't save them. Our gift processor didn't remember seeing an exception. I didn't personally do the batch, but we will be watching closer now.

@Amber Scott - There is an option to validate the batch, if you set this up it will inform you if exceptions exist before the batch is committed. Here's more information:

  • @Austen Brown Thank you! I just Validated the batch that gave an error is says "Projected totals for this batch do not match running totals.

This error shouldn't create any exceptions though. Clicking on the “Modify Batch Totals” should clear that error. It seems like there is something else that is causing the exception. Is it possibly overpaying the pledge, and you have it set to create exceptions for that?
