Auction CSV File into RE Help?

Options

Hi, I have never done gift entry until a month ago. We just finished our auction (via Auction Frogs) and I have a CSV file of gifts to import into RE. What are my first steps? Any help is appreciated. Thanks, Trent

  • @Trent Smither If these are gifts from new donors, then you will need to create those records in an import and tie them to the appropriate gifts. If they are not new donors, you will at least need the RE CID number to match those gifts up with.

  • @Joe Moretti RE CID = customer id or constituent id? What's faster, manually input them or create a column on the csv file and manually type in everyone's RE CID? Almost all are existing donors.

  • @Trent Smither Constituent ID. It all depends on the number of donors you have. Either way, you will have some work on your part.

  • @Trent Smither - Have you taken a look at importacular under plugins (Database view)? it's a free import feature from 3rd party apps (like auctions, events) that you could map your columns too and import.

  • @Trent Smither - I also highly recommend using Importacular versus the import feature in RE. Importacular will help link the gifts and create new records when needed. Plus, it imports gifts into a RE batch. We are highly reliant on batched gifts and the RE import does not import into a batch but just directly onto a constituent. Importacular is a plug-in and is free for importing constituent and gift records. It made importing all of the gifts from our large gala much easier.
