Eliminate deceased relationships from Query/Export based on deceased constituents

Options

Hi, I export a monthly mailing to relationships of deceased constituents. Is there a way I can exclude the deceased relationships from showing up in my export (other than the tedious task of deleting them manually)? If I uncheck “include deceased” in the query, no records show up because the constituents I am querying are deceased. If I uncheck “include deceased" in the export, the same thing happens.

I tried to create a query list of the relationships and then remove the deceased, but found no query list option for a relationship query…

In the export, I need each row to show the deceased constituent (first & last name, death date) and their relationship (name, address)

any suggestions appreciated. Using RE database view. Thanks!

  • @Michelle Branly unfortunately I think the “include deceased” checkbox will be useless to you here as it always applied to the constituent, not to their relationships.

I'm not sure if this achieves exactly what you're after but if I create a relationship query with the criteria “Deceased equals Yes AND Individual Relation Deceased equals No” and then use that in a relationship export, I seem to end up with a list of deceased constituents and their non-deceased relationships. It doesn't include organisation relationships though.

  • @Michelle Branly This may help in the elimination process. There is an output in export under Spouse to show deceased or deceased date. You could export that information and then sort your spreadsheet on that column. That might make it easier to remove those relationships.

  • @Alan French I think you are on to something. Why couldn't you add an Org relationship to the query but instead of deceased have the criteria be either contact person not deceased or org has a valid address…?
