Prospect/Ratings/Category Fields in An Export

Options

Hi,

Wondering if anyone has figured out a way to get the Category field, as a pull-down table, under Ratings to come out in an export? See screenshot below:

  • @Jennifer Branstrom, could you clarify the problem you're having? The function for exporting Category is one of the export fields under Ratings. You can set criteria to export just from one Rating Source, or from all Sources. I generally prefer to specify one source per output column.

Alternatively, if it is the drop-down table itself you are needing, you can view and edit those under Config:

  • @Faith Murray…yes Category is a field, but it is pull-down table as well and it doesn't allow you to pick a specific one in that table. I just finished chatting with Blackbaud and they confirmed that this isn't an option that is available currently and to put it out on the Idea Bank. I am going to look into NXT, as we have this as well, to see if there is a way to drill down and get that pull down table to appear as an option…wish me luck!

  • @Jennifer Branstrom Oh, I understand now. You are wanting to be able to restrict which ratings export based on their Category.

Yes, RE is very limited in that regard. It is set up to filter only on Source. A while back, I completely restructured our internal Ratings to hinge on the Source rather than Category for exports, and to include all critical data ranges in the Description rather than Notes. It was a messy, but worthwhile, import process. I limit my Category to 1-2 types per Source so that I never have to output more than 2 Ratings columns to get the info I need.

Putting in an Idea is a great option. It may take a few years to be actualized though, so in the meantime I recommend adapting your processes to accommodate the limitation if you can.

@Jennifer Branstrom Had the same issue trying to pull. Ended up pulling all the data just to get the data we needed. Source and category are set up backwards for pulling data.

  • @Faith Murray….we also have NXT, so look into running a constituent list over there and the Category field is a pull-down table….woo hoo. Going to rebuild the export I made in Database view over in NXT now.

  • @Jennifer Branstrom, good find! I see that now, in NXT Lists. It would be nice to have paired along with the more versatile query filters in database view, but one could always save List results as a static query in db view and then merge.
