Storing Credit Card Info

Options

I have a donor with a pledge that gave me her credit card for monthly payments. I was going to enter the card in NXT as a recurring payment but it looks like I cannot connect that payment to a pledge. What is the best way to store the card so it auto charges every month and goes against the pledge?

In database view, you can store a credit card on the Bio 2 tab of an individual's record. It will be tokenized and no longer visible, but you will be able to use it in a gift batch if you are set up to charge credit card gifts within Raiser's Edge.

You might also be able to set up a gift batch that is recurring, and enter the credit card there. Note that this a gift batch that is recurring, which means it is basically a template that you can re-use. It is not a batch of recurring gifts in Raiser's Edge speak.

One last comment - there is a big difference between pledges and pledge payments, and recurring gifts and recurring gift payments. They are not interchangeable, so I would recommend learning more about that.

I think the issue is applying payment to a pledge in web view. From the forum posts I know there have been issues with pledge payments in web view but I could not find it addressed in knowledgebase. Perhaps search the forums. I'm not sure if issue has been resolved.

You may have to set pledge up in db view first and transfer payments to web view. There have been posts / trainings on this process.

Hi Susan - There is no way to utilize the Automatic Recurring Gift feature on a Pledge, yet. As Karen mentioned there are other ways to go about charging pledge payments within the system, specifically Database View. I recommend, you continue to process this payment manually in Database View.
