Why doesn't a box show up for entering the number of tickets to purchase?

I must be missing something. I set up a ticketed event, followed all steps, published the event. But when I went to the calendar to view and test by purchasing a ticket, there isn't a way to actually indicate the # of tickets I want to purchase. . It doesn't matter if I'm logged in or not.
