TeamRaiser/Facebook Integration Issue

Options

Hello,

I'm hoping I can connect with someone familiar with integrating TeamRaiser pages and Facebook fundraisers. Historically, ours have been connected and we've had no issues. However, within the past few months, I've received emails from Facebook telling me that our privacy policy must accurately and clearly explain what data we are Processing, how we are Processing it, the purposes for which we are Processing it, and how Users may request deletion of that data. I added that information to our privacy policy webpage, but Facebook still denies that it is correct.

Today, when I log into developers.facebook.com, I see this error message, "We've disabled this app for violating the Facebook Platform Policies. You can continue to use it in development mode." Here's the kicker, the TR/FB integration still works. I created a dummy TR page today and linked it to my Facebook. The fundraiser was immediately created. I'm truly at a loss for how to proceed.

Has anyone experienced this and knows how to solve it?

Thank you!

  • Following this post. We are also experiencing issues with Facebook and TeamRaiser integration. We are still investigating but it seems they are wanting a separate data deletion policy. Please let us know what you find out.

  • My issue ended up being simple. The website page I was linking to in the app settings was not the correct privacy policy page with the data removal information added. This link below is where I put that information (final paragraph). Our website is buggy right now, so if you clear cache the weird overlay should go away.

  • We got that one too, even though our privacy policy clearly spells out those details. My hunch is they just hit everyone with it whether they had it or not.

I responded to the FB email with words to the effect of, “Our policy at ____ currently says: ‘__.’ To our knowledge, this covers all of the outlined requirements; what aspect of our message would your team like clarified, and in what way is it not already addressing these data concerns?"

They closed the ticket with no response.

  • Jeremy - Does your Facebook/Teamraiser integration currently work?

  • Yes, but Facebook did deactivate the alert after my response to them. I fully expect it would have broken if they didn't.

  • Hi there! We are having the same/similar problem. However, an individual cannot link their fundraiser to FB. We have been in contact with both Facebook and Blackbaud - for a month at this point, and the issue cannot be resolved.

    We would appreciate any insight!

  • Hi Ann, What is Facebook telling you is the issue?

  • It has taken a while to get through the process with Facebook - we had more than one issue at play here. The final issue is related to the Privacy Policy issue. See the response from Facebook with the specific content requirements.

I took a look at your privacy policy - if you haven't resolved this yet - you may be in the same position we are. Our hospital's privacy policy, updated just February 28, does not cover the Foundation. That published policy is HIPPA specific and does not extend to our Foundations work. Also, in our case, the link did not go directly to the policy, but to a page with 3 documents.

We are in the process of creating a new Privacy Policy for the Foundation.

    Hope this is helpful, aph

On re-review we found only two issues:

    1. The Privacy Policy link from your App dashboard leads to attached page. So, we kindly recommend you change the link so it leads directly to Privacy Policy instead of the page with links.
    2. While reviewing your Privacy Policy, we found that your privacy policy doesn’t explain how users can request data deletion and the method of data deletion.
The policy must comply with applicable law and regulations and must accurately and clearly explain :
    ○ What data the app is collecting about the user
    ○ For what purposes is the app is using that data
    ○ User's rights for data deletion and how the user may request that the data be deleted
