eCommerce--Setting up free tickets

Options

Hi everyone,

I'm new to using eCommerce. Is there a way to setup free tickets as a coupon code through it? I'm looking to sell tickets for a virtual event and adding discount codes. One option is to receive an additional free ticket with the product purchase. Are there any recommendations on how to provide a free ticket through eCommerce (or somewhere else)?

Thank you!

    Hi @Rumsha Khan!

I'd caution you to carefully consider how you implement a solution for the use case you are inquiring about. In Luminate Online, there are some pitfalls to doing things that would traditionally involve a monetary cost but giving a $0.00 transaction. Here are a couple of help articles that reference the issues which can occur as a result of $0.00 transactions:

Additionally, if you are using an integration like RELO or LCRM, those $0.00 transactions wont synchronize out of Luminate Online into those other systems since they are problematic with integrations.

What I would recommend considering is directing constituents to a survey to submit a survey response if they are interested in receiving an additional free ticket when they've completed a product purchase.

You could potentially place the URL to the survey within the auto-responder email that is sent to the constituent upon completion of their purchase (for a product that has a value of greater than $0.00).

Then the constituent would be able to click through from the link in the autoresponder and submit the survey if they have interest in receiving that free ticket.

From there you'd just have to do some reporting on survey responses, and add registrations for the additional tickets that are given to survey respondents.

I am sure there are other ways you can do this too, so please post back if you come up with some other creative solution!

If there are any follow up questions feel free to reach out!

    Thanks,

  • Hi Rumsha,

You can use the Calendar tool (Ticketed Events) to create events and sell tickets or just have people RSVP to an event. Maybe after they purchase their item on the thank you page/email, send them the link there? You can set the tickets at $0.

    Cheers,

    Meghan
