Birthday Month Query

Options
Can someone help me figure out how to set up a query to pull birthdays for a specific month? We were sending Birthday month emails with a discount for our product line and with BETA ending this month, I'm not sure how to grab these names for August.

I miss those BETA reports, especially now that our fiscal year has ended.

  • Hey Maria,

I am working on this too. How do you sync data between LO and RE?

We are going to put the birth dates in an LO Custom Field and then you should be able to query on that. That was what we were told by BB.

So we are going to push from RE to LO to get this done. We use Omatic to handle the data transfer, so this will be a constituent update profile.

I haven't got it working yet, but am in your same boat.

    Thanks,

    Phil
  • Hi Maria,

I ended up creating a custom field for "birthday month" and using that to query. I exported all engaged constituents with a date of birth, converted the Excel field to month, and imported the new data. NOT ideal since I have to manually update this frequently.

    DEFINITELY missing BETA too.

  • That was my next plan. It's so annoying that you had access to do this and now you can't. Thank you for your solution.
  • Might have a simpler solution. If you're using RELO, you could set up Raiser's Edge queries to pull a list of people who have a birthday in a given month, and then use LO's "map to offline" to create synced-up groups. RE queries can do specific months, "between date X & Y," or "this/last/next month," so you're covered for everything shy of "today/yesterday/x days from now."

For our org, I've used this method to create two groups per month, so that I can avoid sending an email on August 1 for someone whose birthday isn't until September 30. In other words, I've got an "Early September BDay" group that gets sent on 8/15 and a "Late September BDay" group that sends on 9/1, and just scheduled out all 24 emails to let it run automatically throughout the year.
  • Hi!

I am brand new to RE. What does LO stand for?
  • Luminate Online.
  • There is a webinar on May 5 about the birthday query.

Here is where you can register:

    Thanks,

  • Thanks Philip. Is that part of RE or is that a separate software?
  • Thanks Philip!
  • It is a separate Blackbaud Product that can share data with RE through the RE-LO Connector or the Omatic Connector. The two don't play perfectly nice together, but you can do a lot by leveraging RE data into it.

It is a platform for mass email, donation forms, event registrations, ecommerce and TeamRaisers.

    Thanks,

    Phil
