Moving Gifts from Campaign to Campaign

Options
Our organization is currently set up to use one campaign called "General Operating".  We use Funds to track which geographic location (chapter) the gift should be applied to and the appeal for the name of the internal fundraising campaign we are running.  We are looking to start a 2nd campaign bucket for "Capital" that would be for gifts intended for expansion or the future.  My COO wants to have a way to move the Capital Gifts in the future to the General Operation Campaign so our dashboards could show the amount that would be released or raised in a given period.  My original thought was to use gift adjustment to make this happen, but that only adjusts funds.  Has anyone set up a system to accomplish this or can share any best practices?

  • Not sure that this is quite an answer to your question, but can you not change the Campaign on the "Split Gifts" tab of the adjustment window?

Only if the gifts are not posted.  If gifts are posted, doesn't seem you can make edits on the split gift screen. Ran into similar issue wanting to change appeal.
  • Hello,

I have used gift adjustment to change Campaigns as well.  Once you have opened the Gift Adjustment, select the Split Gift tab which should give you more fields to adjust, even if the original gift was NOT a split gift.  Hope this helps.

  • Adjustments will definitely work, but this is going to be a hard/annoying project because as a fundraising database, RE is designed to record donor intent, not when money is released. That report is best generated by your financial database.
