Using Delayed Self Pledges

Options
Our organization has several endurance events with a fundraising minimum, and we've always stored the participant's credit card information on a paper form at our local office. In the interest of being much more PCI compliant *and* because all of us our working remotely, we're looking into other methods.

My question is: do other similar organizations use the Delayed Self Pledges feature in Luminate/TeamRaiser and have any feedback on it? *Or* do you use any other methods for handling this?

Thanks in advance!

  • We've used it for years. It's pretty easy to do now that it has been integrated into the Admin UI.

One thing to note is that team and event gifts do not contribute to anyone's minimum fundraising amount, so you might find yourself doing a lot more soft-credits as participants scramble to not get charged. Worth at least considering turning off Team and Event gifts to avoid this. We still accept them, but its more for historical reasons that knowing if it would reduce donations or not.

Also, this means that your participant types MUST charge a fee. So no 100% discounts for Participant Types that use DSP. (We use a hidden Participant Type for Sponsor Participants that don't pay a registration fee.)

Could you elaborate on the hidden participant type? How do you create that?
