Spanish Translation

Options
I was able to change the majority of items to Spanish on our donation form, but I'm having a hard time trying to change the empty field areas that say "optional". Is it possible to change that, so it can be in Spanish?

Hi Beverli Legua‍ - Unfortunately, I do not think it possible to change the placeholder text within OLX.  There is an idea in the OLX Idea Bank currently for this very topic - "Add option to change languages of online express forms"; if you have not voted for the idea already I would recommend you do so.

Chris Martin‍ - Is there a unforeseen way that the placeholder text can be changed to another language in OLX?  Can this be accomplished through adding CSS code to the OLX Form code embedded on their webpage?
  • Hi Beverli Legua‍. You unfortunately can't change the placeholder text itself by just CSS. You could certainly do that using a little bit of javascript or jquery running on the page where you embed this OLX form if you happen to have access to someone with that skill set.

I should mention too that there are a few other areas that aren't translate-able via the OLX form editor, one of which you could handle as noted above but the other that you can't impact at all.

The first is the small bit of recurring giving text (if you've enabled recurring giving) that appears that informs the donor of the date of their first gift installment. This too could be replaced with other text using javascript or jquery.

The bit you can't really change at all is content that appears via merge fields in either the confirmation screen or acknowledgement email. If you use a merge field like the Transaction Details merge field, all of the field labels generated by this merge field will be rendered in English and there's no way to alter that.

I hope that helps at least clarify what is / isn't possible.

    Thanks Beverli.
