Changing Constituent Codes

Options
Hi Everyone,

I am looking to change the constituent codes of our graduated seniors from students to alums.  Can anyone be of assistance in how I go about doing this?

Thanks

  • Thank you, Daniel, I will try that and let you know how it goes.

  • Would adding an end date to their student code do the trick?
  • Never thought about that, but that is a very good idea.  I would put in their Graduation Date as the end date.  I will definitely start doing that.  Thank you.

The problem with end date is the way query works with them.  Those records will still populate on any query for the student code even though the end date has passed.  Just because the record still has the code on it.  Which is fine, if you remember to add a condition for the end date, but most people forget about that.
  • We leave all the constituent codes on a person's record but have beginning and end dates. For the Class of 2019, the "Student" const code now gets an end date. "Alumni" const code is added with a beginning date and it becomes the primary const code. We do the same for Parents of graduating seniors: "Parent" gets an end date, "Alumni Parent" is added with the beginning date and made the primary const code. Our queries will include dates or specify the end date is blank.
