Solicit codes and consent rules

I need to set up solicit codes for each of our mailings and emails that get sent out, and they need to correspond to consent rules in OLX. Has anyone done this successfully, such that if, for example, a donor wants to opt out of our monthly newsletter but NOT out of the quarterly newsletter, the system responds correctly? I would love to watch a webinar where someone goes into detail, describing how these work and the best practices I can use when setting them up and setting up events, emails, etc on OLX. Maybe it already exists. If so, would someone please show me where I can find this?

I really look forward to getting some advice on this. Thanks.

Hi Hilda - Unfortunately, this is not currently possible. When a constituent unsubscribes from one of your organization's emails, their email address is unsubscribed from all organization emails originating in OLX. Even if you were two adjust the consent record or the email listing in the constituent record, their email address will remain on the unsubscribed list in OLX until they re-subscribe to OLX emails through sign-up the form on your website. We have added a section directly above the footer that asks constituents to update their communication preferences via the linked form. It has had moderate success in re-directing constituents to not unsubscribe entirely; while this solution works for us, it does create additional work to our Data Team as they have to manually enter the information that is submitted through the communication preferences form into RE.

We are struggling with the unsubscribe-from-everything issue and I am very interested in your comment: "We have added a section directly above the footer that asks constituents to update their communication preferences via the linked form."

Can you tell me more about how this works? Is it a link that you put in the OLX email that goes to your own form? Or is it also part of your website? Is there any way I could see it? I'd appreciate any help.

Hi Leslie Choitz‍ - Below is a screenshot of the bottom of one of our recent OLX emails, directly above the footer section. The link "Update Your Preferences" takes folks to this form: https://www.cognitoforms.com/VictoryJunction1/ManageYourCommunicationPreferences. Once the user has submitted their preferences through the form, an email is automatically generated with the submitted information and sent to our Data Team; we then manually update the information in the constituent's record in RE. As of right now we are tracking this information in attributes (full disclosure: I am considering to changing the tracking location from attributes to solicit codes and tracking any subsequent changes in preferences through the consent feature). Just a quick advertisement/teaser that I'll be publishing a blog post in the coming weeks (maybe even a blog "series") on this topic. We know that the need to offer your supporters more granular communication preference management is real and to that end, I'm super excited to share that we have an all-new communication preference management paradigm that we're bringing to RE NXT.

Without going into too much detail here, this new construct we'll be adding will offer:

- full GDPR compliance with no need to "migrate" any existing consent data

- granular, self-service preference management by your supporters

- much greater consistency and clarity of the meaning of expressed preferences

- the ability to distinguish between preferences overtly expressed by your supporters vs those you infer/impose

- greater ease of inclusion/exclusion of recipients based on expressed preferences

Hi Chris,

I am having a challenge locating the Blog you mentioned regarding Consent for RE NXT Marketing emails. I am in an excellent position to be an early adopter and would love to trial the code. I have done application testing before and will provide feedback etc if you are willing to let me participate.

I am in a position to start setting up mapping for my existing tables, and applying it to constituent records in my database. The more I understand about how your team intends to implement this the better job I can do.

I love the initiatives you listed for the plans. I think they will really honor our constituents wishes which means a lot to me and our organization.
