Campaigns, Funds and Appeals structure

Options
I am trying to determine the best campaign, funds, and appeal structure for the political org that I just started with. Nothing has been set yet at all. This was the initial thought for campaigns: Election 2018, Election 2020, Public Service 2018, Public Service 2019, Veteran Debt 2018. Not sure if these make sense as the campaign and I'm hesitant to add the years as this can get out of hand. We have only three funds. And, appeals would be: Event type, Mail appeal, unsolicited, Email ask, etc. I can't seem to wrap my head around the campaigns and if this is the best approach. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

  • What about using Election, Public Service, Veteran Debt as the campaign then add a year to the title for the specific fund.

    Campaign = Election

    Fund = Election 2018

    This works well for our annual fund processing.
  • I also agree with Sunshine. How you set this up depends on what goals you are setting and wanting to track and report on. This is often not up to you but up to some other powers that be. Sounds like a few meetings are in order. :-)

    Also starting new means you may try it one way the first year or so and then decide to tweak it as you learn more. That is ok too.

    I am a proponent of having rotating funds that are used all the time and dated campaigns so you can set your goals new and fresh each year on the campaign.
