How can data fields be entered in bulk?

The data has never been entered for the COUNTY field in 90% of our database. Is there a way to automatically determine which counties the constituents live and have them entered in their respective fields without having to go to each constituent profile and adding it manually?

    If you're lucky enough to have Address Accelerator, I believe it can be run in "bulk" mode and will fill in the county for you in two shakes of a lamb's -- i mean, manatee's! -- tail.

    If you don't have AddressAccelerator and it's not part of your NXT package, you could export your address data and have it NCOA-screened by a mailhouse who can include County in the returned data.  I did this at my last two orgs and it worked great.  The mailhouse I worked with (at both jobs) charged $25 per screening, no matter how many records you include, and while I always had to request/remind them to include County in the returned data, it was quick and easy.  (Should you go this route but not have a mailhouse who is willing to do this, let me know and I'll get you contact information.)

    Thanks Jen. I have not explored Raiser's Edge enough to export and then import again. I have database experience and would feel comfortable doing it. Do you have recommendations on the easiest process to follow?

    If you are new to RE Export/Import, I highly recommend you quickly develop the habit of testing with just a handful of records, and consider using dummy records.  This way, you'll bypass some easily avoidable headaches that can happen to even those highly experienced with Import.


    You will need to include Constituent ID and/or Constituent Import ID as well as Preferred Address Import ID and then your Address Fields.  I prefer to rename my fields in the data file and then set up the Import Parameters, because RE will auto-map the fields based on the column headers in the source data.  Otherwise, you can manually map them.

    Just one word of caution: What _country_ are your addresses? If UK, then do not use the RE County field - it's out of date:

    Our addresses are in the US. Thanks for the word of caution though.

    Did you find you have AddressAccelerator? That is really the best way.

    We do not have Address Accelerator. We have Address Finder.

    and if you find none of these other options that have been mentioned will work for you, there's always query addresses by cities and then globally add the counties.  For example, all your San Francisco city addresses would need the same county.  (Can you tell I live in California?  LOL)
