Net Community app keeps crashing on

Options
All - I know nothing about BlackBaud, or Net Community.  We have a problem to solve.

We are running Windows 2008 R2 IIS 7.5 -  BlackBaud\\Net Community version 7.1.1.167.0

The Net Community keeps crashing on the server.  When it does you get this message?  Would someone point me in the right direction on what needs to be done to fix this problem?  This is all I have to go on.  The app seems to get in a snit, then it crashes.  Do we need a different version, is there a patch out for this problem?  Let me know what other info you may need to assist us.  Thanks much

    Hi Mike

Have you tried calling support, they will be able to a remote desktop session with you to help.

.Net 4.5.2 must be installed according to system reqs so you might want to update.

NC 7.2 SP2 (7.1.187.0) is also out, looks like you are running SP1

    Kerry

  • Hi Mike,

The key element of the error is:

    Exception information:
        Exception type: COMException
Exception message: The specified file could not be found, or the file doesn't contain a valid typelib.
       at Blackbaud.PIA.RE7.ExportData.CXTagReplacerClass.ParseTemplate(String sXMLTemplate, String sXSLOutputMethod)

The error is being generated by the RE7 Web Services Server (or REWS) and suggests a file is missing or corrupt. This can be caused by a few different environmental factors, but the most common is a anti-virus or anti-malware program mistakenly removing files. I would recommend investigating any anti-virus software running on the machine and doing a modify/repair of the REWS components to restore any missing files. If these steps do not work, please create a support case and an agent will be able to assist further.

    Thanks!

    Tony
  • Tony,

Thanks very much for the feedback, and the
    suggestion on disabling the anti-virus.

    Cheers Mike

  • Kerry hi,

Thanks so much for your feedback and
suggestions.  I’ll update .Net to 4.5, talk to my manager
about updating the NC client.  We have not opened up a case
    with support.

    Cheers Mike

  • I would like to say thank you to everyone who was kind enough to help us out here.  I've been reading the release notes, and KB articles on how Net Community works and how to install and configure it.  The system requirements and a few others.  I have a little better understanding of how the app is installed.

I'm planning to remove the anti-virus app from the server NC is installed on.

    Uninstall NC 7.1

    Shutdown

    Startup

Install NC 7.1  'My manager wants to install the same client version because we don't want to change the client on the workstations at this time.

    Install anti-virus app.

Exclude the files and folders associated with NC from the virus scan.

I've checked the system requirements, App requires  .Net 4.5.2 I have 4.7 installed on the server.

    Thanks again everyone:)
