New Acquisitions

What new acquisition groups do fundraisers target for their TeamRaiser events?

Our annual walk is coming up, and 2017 was the first time we used TeamRaiser. Our "New Acqusition" list was comprised of donors to the foundation but not to the walk. This year, we aren't sure if that's the same group to target. Our emails to that group was not particularly successful (go figure). We want to keep the data in LO clean, but as a new fundraiser, I'm at a loss at what new group to target.

Any advice would be helpful! Thanks, Sarina

Sabrina, if I understand correctly, this will be your second year, yes? You may have this in the works, but I would like to suggest segmenting as such:

    1) Past Participants (anyone who registered last year). Be sure to acknowledg/highlight their past involvement.

        - Consider calling out past team captains and/or top individual fundraisers.

    2) Past Donors (to the 2017 walk) - which can be tricky as their relationahip is likely with the participant, not necessarily your organization. Be sure to acknowldge/highlight their past involvement.

    3) Everyone else? It's ok to send these recruitment emails thoughtfully and regualrly, as it will take several tries to get a response.

        - Consider suppressing major donors, board members, unless you know of their interest in the event.

        - Consider focusing on volunteers.

        - Are their relationships with local companies that can be leveraged?

        - Are their social influencers on your list that you can leverage to either form a team or spread the word?

What other questions do you have? "New Acquisition" is always the hardest to tackle.
