Who's in Charge?

Options
HI all,

We've recently converted to RE (3 months in) and had our set up & "training" concerning BBNC. After seeing what is involved with BBNC and considering that we are still on shaky legs with plain ole' RE, we've decided to table using the full functionality of BBNC until a later time. I am in charge of the project along with my "regular job" and I am wondering if those of you using BBNC have a dedicated person who runs it and over sees, or is it a team effort? Is it a full time job once it is set up? What types of rules and regulations do you have set in place to make things run more smoothly?

Any suggestions/idea would be appreciated.

Thank you!

  • I am the DB administrator, and we also use NetC. We use it to create integrated donation pages for our website (that is not with NetC - we use WordPress). And we also use NetC for emailing. With just those tasks, we do not have additional staff for NetC and it seems to work out ok. I love that I can schedule emails ahead of time, so I get as many done as I can, in advance, and then just schedule them for the month. Setting up donation pages was time consuming in the first few months, but once in place, very easy to manage and or copy to create others. All online giving gets processed through NetC/BBPS and this has been very effective for us also.  ** with the exception of direct debits. I do those free of charge through the bank website, but still use RE to create transmission files.
  • There are two of us in the IT department who manage everything Blackbaud (since there are users in many school departments, not just Advancement). We've had NetCommunity for quite a while. Many people are able to send emails, but we pretty much controll all email lists (I think there's just one person who creates her own). We manage most of the web content on it, but our web designer does have access and will occasionally get in and do things. We set up all donation pages, and train the gift processor on how to process donations through BBNC. I process all other forms/profile updates (with the exception of the forms done by the one person mentioned above who makes her own lists).

    Hello Alicia,

We are just getting started on BBNC for emails. We are running up against an issue where we cannot bring in large numbers of email addresses.  My colleague spoke to BB support and was directed to cut the queries down in size (down to 2,000).  Many of our emails go to far more folks then this, what is the largest query you typically bring into BBNC?  Thanks!
