email groups for teamraisers

I have a lot of emails I need to be imported into a group for several Teamraisers. I know there is a feature inside Luminate Online which allows you to do so. But when I created a test file of 10 people and uploaded, my results were 5 exisitng, and 5 created new records. Which then, the new 5 ercords went through the RELO connector into RE. Anyway to stop this?
